South Shore Ribbon Cutting

I had the opportunity to join 8th Ward Alderman Michelle Harris in the ribbon cutting of South Shore Hospital Tuesday, February 13. This was a tremendous moment as a major institution in our community took significant steps to improve the quality of services and infrastructure of the building.

This moment is yet another example of the development work underway in our community, and a reminder to me of the important work I still have to do. I believe in the potential of our community and I know that together we can build a better 7th ward for the present and future generations.

Alderman Mitchell On Chicago Tonight Discussing South Works Site

In case you missed it, I was on #ChicagoTonight last night, discussing the pending deal between Emerald Living, a unit of Dublin-based WElink Group, Spanish partner Barcelona Housing Systems, and US Steel. Thank you to @PhilPonce for helping us share this exciting news with the rest of Chicago.

I am cautiously optimistic about this deal as we enter into a five month period of due diligence where we will ensure that the deal works for all parties, and most importantly, our community. However, my two decades of business experience has taught me not to celebrate until the deal is done. I shared these insights and more during the interview.
