On Saturday, September 23, 2017, Alderman Greg Mitchell will partner with Chicago Bulls’ point guard Kris Dunn, Jonathan Hood from ESPN Chicago, and Canary, a new technology company providing innovative home security solutions, to host the Chicago Safe (#chicagosafe) event. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the next generation of home security as well as see a live product demonstration. To make the event more beneficial for 7th Ward residents, Alderman Mitchell has requested that Canary provide 400 free security devices to 7th Ward participants who attend the event.
On Monday, May 1st, 2017 Alderman Mitchell hosted a Spring Town Hall Meeting focused on public safety. During the town hall, Greg promised to think outside of the box and find innovative ways to address public safety. This security device giveaway event is one such idea to come out of that meeting. Additionally, we are pleased to announce that probationary officers were assigned to the 3rd and 4th police district; 17 new officers in total. Alderman Mitchell had this to say about Saturday’s event, and the probationary officers, “My residents' safety is one my highest priorities as Alderman. Every decision I make and opportunity I seek is focused on providing my residents a higher quality life. The Chicago Safe is one simple way to help 400 residents secure their homes and provide greater peace of mind. As for the probationary officers, the 7th Ward deserves as many resources as we can get to curb criminal activity in our community. I welcome all partners in my effort to redevelop our community.”
