(Updated 08/21/2017) In Loving Memory of William "Hank" Taylor - 7th Ward Streets & Sanitation Superintendent

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of a key 7th Ward Service Center team member. Monday morning I discovered that William Taylor our 7th Ward Streets and Sanitation Superintended, who we all lovingly knew as Hank, had passed away. I met Hank in 1975, around the time I was seven years old. He was like my big brother and the way he lived his life nurtured my desire for public service.

Many of you may remember Hank from his daily patrol of the ward in the white truck or our annual holiday appreciation celebration this past December, where we acknowledged his remarkable service by awarding him “The Above and Beyond Award.” Hank was a model citizen, who lived in and loved to serve the 7th Ward.

He took great pride in the details, ensuring the alley ways were clean, catch basins functioning, snow removed, vacant lots maintained, streets swept, trash emptied and definitely ticketing anyone or business that did not maintain our ward to his high standard of care. Hank served our community for countless years, and he will truly be missed. Please take a moment today to pray for Hank's family and all those who loved this incredible man.
